Overview

Located in the bustling food hub of The Core Sunsuria, Kota Damansara, NASI KANDAR ALOR STAQ HAJI SULTAN offers a compelling taste of traditional Indian Muslim cuisine that seamlessly blends heritage and consistent quality. This eatery, with roots tracing back to Alor Setar, has firmly established itself as a favorite among locals and visitors alike, attracting a diverse crowd from Malays to Chinese and Indians, especially during the lively lunch hours.

The highlight here is undoubtedly their nasi kuning dishes, where fragrant yellow rice forms the perfect canvas for a range of rich, layered flavors. Whether it’s the tender goat paired with mixed sauce or the fried fish accompanied by a flavorful egg and vibrant vegetables like okra and fried lettuce, each plate is a well-balanced symphony of taste and texture. The mixed gravy, known for its "ganja" aroma among connoisseurs, elevates the meal with deep, complex spices that are both inviting and satisfying.

Signature items such as the Nasi Kuning Ayam Goreng Telur Masin Bendi Dan Kuah Campur showcase the mastery in combining crunchy, juicy fried chicken with the bold, salty notes of salted duck egg and fresh vegetables. Complementing the main dishes are special extras like fish roe and squid roe, which add a unique briny richness rarely found in typical nasi kandar outlets.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is vibrant yet approachable, often bustling with a crowd that reflects its broad appeal — office workers, families, and food enthusiasts converging over hearty plates of comfort food. The space feels practical rather than pretentious, prioritizing quick yet satisfying dining experiences, making it an ideal spot for lunch breaks or casual meetups.

What makes NASI KANDAR ALOR STAQ HAJI SULTAN stand out is its consistent quality and value. Dishes arrive freshly cooked, generously portioned, and infused with authentic spices that remind diners of home-cooked Indian Muslim delicacies. Many patrons commend the piping-hot fried chicken and the harmonious blend of sauces that define the essence of a good nasi kandar meal.

Accessible with ample parking and a location slightly off the downtown pulse, this outlet invites visitors to venture out for a rewarding culinary experience. For those seeking an affordable, flavor-rich meal that honors tradition without compromising on freshness or portion size, this is a must-visit destination in Petaling Jaya’s thriving food scene.

So far, the best and cheapest in PJ! And the food has been consistent in terms of flavour and quality. A standard yellow Nasi Kandar, fried chicken and lady's fingers would cost RM8. And the outlet has a variety of dishes to choose from. The outlet replaced the Nasi Royale KD outlet (same venue), and I'm glad it did! Quite a centre of food for all races...I see the Malays, Chinese and Indians as frequent customers...especially during lunchtime (12 noon onwards). I knew its original outlet at Nana Rest in Alor Setar (just a walking distance from mom-in-law's house). I can vouch the quality of the KD branch didn't stray far!

Stumbled across this popular shop while looking for my next lunch. Packed with people at 12.30pm. Ordered nasi kandar with fried chicken. As usual all the mixed sauces really highten the taste. Kudos to their fried chicken which was piping hot, fresh, juicy and well marinated . Total for the meal was RM10, very reasonable. Too bad they are located far from downtown. Definitely worth visiting while in the area.

Best nasi kandar in the area! Food was given in huge portions. Took fried fish, fish roe, 2 types of vege, and mixed gravy with two drinks and is costs only RM22! If you're looking for that tasty mythical 'ganja' kandar, this is the place to go to! Lots of parking around!

Affordable, freshly cooked fried chicken. Personally I should have half the sauce as it's too much for me. However the taste is superb, better than most nasi kandar in uptown dAmansara. Teh si kosong also good, very smooth and wangi. Would definitely come back to makan if I'm around this area.

Tasty food. Curries a little bit sweeter than I prefer. Need to balance with salted egg. Wish also they had more dishes on grab.
